Patek Philippe Ref. 5070P – “The Roman 5070P”

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Or so it is said. With the Ref. 5070P, the sunlight can bring so many shades of blue from this specific dial that, maybe, more than one picture is needed!

Just for the pleasure…..

Out of the sun, the dial turns a more sober and darker velvety hue of blue

But with a glint of sun, a vibrant blue emerges. Almost “electric blue.”

And in some lights, the sub-dials appear to be two-tone in nature. In reality, I think it is fair to say that the different texture of the dial versus the subdials plays on the light to create this effect. Having inspected the dial under high magnification, I think that it is accurate to call this a two-tone dial. The blues are actually different, with the sub-dials being of a darker hue.

Gorgeous stepped case

From the lugs to the case, the stepped nature of the design makes the Ref. 5070P aesthetically very appealing.

The Roman XII signature of this dial creates a personality all of its own.

From demur…..
